What's the story behind your last book, The Angel Sees Grey?
I write sexy romance, but I have never written BDSM before. Many readers have asked me to write about bondage. I really didn't want my heroine to whip my hero for no reason at all, so I came up with the idea of an avenging angel, whipping the hero by mistake and The Angel Sees Grey: Pleasure and Punishment for Mr. Darcy is born.

What are your five favorite books, and why?
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - for Mr. Darcy's constancy to Elizabeth and her ideal for love
- 1984 by George Orwell - for the chilling idea of Big Brother
- Brave New World by Aldous Huxley - for the startling notion of conditioning people
- Animal Farm by George Orwell - equality is a difficult ideal to achieve
- Pingzong Xiaying Lu by Liang Yusheng - another passionate hero who loves his lady, despite the divide of their family and political ideal.

Describe your desk
If you are talking about my office for writing, I don't have a desk for that purpose. I like to lie on the sofa or my bed and have the laptop on my lap when I write.

How do you approach cover design?
I work with several graphic designers. Some of them have read my stories before they start while some work on their designs based on my brief. I usually help the designers to search for cover photos, but a lot of the time, the designers have their own visions. I usually insist on a handsome hunk and a feisty woman for the cover. I love a strong woman in my story and cover!

What do you read for pleasure?
Short romance novels, mystery, and books about baking. Don't give me a book over 300 pages, please!

When did you first start writing?
I started writing part time around the late 1980s, as a columnist for a newspaper, writing study tips. After that, I branched out to write travel stories. At work, I wrote marketing and advertising materials. I didn't know I can write romance until I tried writing a drabble for fun a few years ago.

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use my laptop mostly, then mobile and finally tablet. I'm addicted to my laptop because of the keyboard.

What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I think blogging, as the posts are searchable. I can see how many people have read my posts and where they are from. Usually, after a few free reads, I can see some increase in book sales.

What are you working on next?
A historical romantic mystery. It doesn't start off as a mystery at first, but it travels down that path all by itself!
